The moments that create a need

A protection need usually shows up around an event or a change, not as a permanent condition. Common triggers include a high-risk termination, where an employee is being separated and there is reason to expect anger or escalation; a threat made against an executive, an employee, or their family; a public-facing leader stepping into a controversial issue or a high-profile moment; travel into an unfamiliar or higher-risk environment; or a restraining order, contentious dispute, or stalking situation that spills into the workplace.

In each case the exposure is temporary, but during that window it is real, and the cost of getting it wrong is high.

What executive protection actually involves

Good protection is mostly invisible and mostly preparation. It starts with a risk assessment: who or what is the threat, what does a normal day look like, where are the vulnerable points. From there it can mean advance work on locations, secure transportation, a trained agent present during the high-risk window, and a clear plan for what happens if something goes wrong. The visible bodyguard is the smallest part of it.
