M82-A1 - Familiarization - Heavy Rifle Course

Description:
Training and testing operators abilities with the M82-A1 shooting platform.
This course covers system maintenance, shooting platform setup, 50BMG ballistics,
ammunition selection and usage, known distance target acquisition from 100-1000m,
cold bore shot, effects of temperature and humidity on bullet path, recoil
preload specific to the M82-A1 platform, and general practices specific
to the semi-auto heavy sniper rifle.

Shooting Platform
Setup
Instructor
will describe and demonstrate proper setup of the M82-A1 in the prone
position. Each student will be required to setup and demonstrate his/her
proficiency. Proper shoo-ter alignment, rifle height to shooting surface,
bipod positioning, and recoil preload will be addressed in this section.
50BMG Ballistics
Instructor
will review external ballistics of the 50BMG cartridge. Cold Bore Shots,
tempe-rature effects, and humidity will be addressed in this section.
Drop tables will be provided to students with drops in elevation to 1000m
based on a standard temperature, humidity and a 100m zero.

Selection
Capabilities
of available ammunition specific to different target scenarios will be
discussed in this section.

semi-auto rifle with bipod
(Prone shooting only/No benches) - Rental Available
- Scope fixed power
(16X minimum) with NPR2 or similar reticle
Exterior turret
knobs with ¼ MOA adjustment capabilities
- 100 rounds match
grade ammunition (Match ammunition available @ $3.50/rd.)
- Gear to be worn
in operation
- Eye/Ear protection
(earplugs and earmuffs for 50BMG)
- Shooting mat
- Rear stock supporting
sandbag 4”x4”x2” high
- Notebook for recording
adjustments
- Cleaning kit (50BMG
cleaning rod, jags, and bore bore brushes provided)
