Description:
Precision Rifleman/Observer Teams are the eyes and surgical arm of any Special
Opera-tions Unit. Nearly 70% of Law Enforcement shootings take place in
low or reduced light conditions. With that, there is a genuine need for
the Precision Rifleman/Observer to effectively operate during low light.
This course is designed to give your team the tactical edge needed for successful
operations in this challenging environment.

Prerequisites:
This
is NOT a basic precision rifle course. Enrollment requirements include
previous formal training in precision rifle work
This 4-Day,
32+ hour Course will cover the following:
- Shooting techniques
in Diminished Light Environments
- Stalking and Movement
under Low Light Conditions
- Overview of Illumination
Tools - IR and White Light

Drills and Exercises
- Rifleman/Observer
Communication Concepts
Mandatory
Equipment:
- A centerfire bolt
action or semi-automatic rifle, .223 Remington or larger, equipped with
at least a 3X scope or larger and a sling. The rifle, scope and ammunition
combination should be able to fire 1.5 MOA at 100 yards.
- 250 rounds of precision
ammunition
- Bipod and/ or sandbags
- Spotting scope
and/ or binoculars
- Handheld flashlight,
with white and red light capability, 60 to 350 lumens
- Cleaning gear (rifles
will be cleaned often)
- Personal body armor,
load bearing equipment vest or belt, harness, & pouches
- Canteen or Hydration
System
- Gas mask and pouch
- Tactical Uniform
or Camouflage clothing, Baseball type cap, eye and ear protection
- Current rifle data
book or an empty three ring binder with pen/pencil (data book will be
supplied)
- Defensive handgun,
holster, and 50 rounds of ammunition
Recommended
Equipment:
- Shooting mat (foam
camping mat will work)
- Equipment pack
- Ballistic helmet
- Elbow and knee
pads
- Ghillie suit
- Camouflage face
paint
- Weapon mounted
light, 60 to 350 lumens with momentary switch (light mounted on top
of scope or on rifle stock, not on barrel)

- Small red or blue
LED light (can be purchased at class)
Optional Equipment:
- Night vision equipped
rifle scope (not required, but if available will be used for drills
and demonstration)
- IR Laser sight
