Description:
This course is designed as a 24 hour OPERATOR LEVEL COURSE to assist officers assigned as School Resource Officers or School Liaison Officers, College Campus Patrol Officers, or patrol officers from smaller agencies that could be faced with the initial response to an “active shooter" incident. Areas of concern include highly populated buildings such as schools, businesses, day care centers, etc. While a multiple officer response is preferred for this type of critical incident, the nature and timing of this type of problem may require a SINGLE officer or PAIR of officers to respond quickly and effectively in order to reduce loss of life. Acquiring the training and skills necessary to respond rapidly and effectively in order to locate, isolate and/or neutralize the threat posed by an active shooter cannot be overemphasized.

We will review well-publicized and recent active shooter tragedies and then conduct operations in a realistic manner. This course includes extensive "force on force" drilling. We use actors and projectile training weapons in order to make the training valid and as realistic as possible. Repeated drilling increases the proficiency level of the participant so that he or she can more effectively understand and deploy these proven concepts and protocols during the “real thing”.

This course is highly recommended for SRO’s or school liaison officers and small agency first response professionals who will respond to a call for help during one of these critical incidents.
